I have a diabetic cat who is 14 and has been diabetic for 5 years.

For years, I feed her Purina DM, veterinary formula for diabetes, until I discovered the corn in it. No wonder he had his BG at bay.

The basic idea with a diabetic cat should be careful with persistence to a good quality canned food that contain no grain .. Feed corn, rice, wheat. Take a little time reading labels. Primariy The fish dish was not good, several times a week for the high phosphorus feed.

If you have not yet found, please read a little about feline diabetes website. There is a wealth of information for other relatives of diabetic cats.

I have placed several links on the site of food and beverages, the list of Fancy Feast, tables of food, prepared by a member of the FD message boards, chat and general nutrition content. The site is written by a veterinarian, cat food and cat lovers. The information is easy to read and understand, and explains what to look for food, Marks and food even raw meat.

For me, all my cats eat my gluten-free preparations of Fancy Feast dry and Innova EVO. Dry food is usually not the best option for diabetic cats, but my dry food loves. EVO is the best formula I've found, eats and BG remain within the normal range.

Have Autotest? I have a BG meter that I several times a week and urine strips. There are videos on the site, which shows how Autotest FD with a meter BG.

There are many of us have with diabetic cats. I hope the answer, too, and give you points that can be lost!

Purrs for you and for cats.

There is a Yahoo group called felinediabetes. You may experience http://www.Yahoogroups.com and searched for it, then join the group.

Members will have a lot of information on feeding cats with diabetes, as is the case with her cats.

I understand that they should not be carbohydrate in the diet because it can cause blood sugar levels that are "off".

Are members of the group are the ones that matter.

Also on Yahoo Answers, Ken is very much about diabetes in cats.

Unfortunately, veterinarians not enough to really understand the role of diet in the treatment of diabetes in cats. Pet foods are often full of garbage ingredients such as corn (), for example, Purina DM. You are in carbohydrates, which is good, but the ingredients do not provide many nutrients. Others, such as paper, for example, are even worse, that are high in carbohydrates. Feeding dry food for a diabetic is like putting fuel into a fire and cons prove.

See links in my previous post and www.catinfo.org www.felinediabetes.com

And if you still need help in the treatment of diabetes in your cat, visit the website of diabetes in cats as we are people from all over the world including the United Kingdom (the "where" you probably) m

High protein, diet, low carbohydrate is the best. Put them on sheets of regular cat food, you can throw away the scales!

I feed Royal Canin Siamese 38 or 38% protein and a long talk with her. Purina DM (veterinary prescription food) s is often recommended by the vet, but our cats have gained weight on it too fast. EVO 50% protein, but too rich for some cats (diarhea!). The purse Wysong Vitality is also very good.

Finding food is not in the top 5 ingredients, no grain and meat from 3 sources in the first five ingredients. And do not feed on milk is also rich in carbohydrates.

If you are looking into the wet food, can the "feast" of Fancy Feast to be used once per day - but have not received the extra sauce, which only unnecessary carbohydrates. Select Day of the standard. "
